India holds a proud record for a feverishly-paced nightlife scene, and it’s about time that our after-hour inhibitions were put into scripture. Groundbreaking event company Percept (the brains behind Sunburn Festival) have decided to launch the internationally acclaimed music magazine, DJ Mag in India and hope that its inception into the market will accelerate India’s dance culture to unprecedented levels.
The launch event is being held tonight, the 6th of July at F-Bar Mumbai and is already poised to be one of the most explosive openings the city has witnessed. Performing at the launch will be Israeli tech mastermind Guy J, Indian house maestro DJ Clement and underground scene-stealer Jayant | Jitter. The event will start at 10:30 pm and will be hosted by none better than Artist/ VJ Ramona Arena.
Dance music purveyors might have heard of DJ Magazine from its two revered ‘Top 100’ lists directed at DJs and nightclubs respectively. And with its sights now shifted to our volatile dance music terrain, expect nothing less than a colossal trend shift in the coming year. What can readers expect from the monthly rag? Pure fandom - A definitive link to their favourite dance-floor scorchers and artists via profiles, interviews, cover stories and a host of other exclusives.
The magazine has already been slated to be a best-seller at leading stores like Crossword and quality magazine stands across Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Pune.
