Last night our chief technical officer Adrian Newey was indicted into the Motor Sport Hall of Fame in London.
Adrian joins the likes of Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, Sir Jackie Stewart OBE and Sir Stirling Moss and Newey was particularly pleased to be amongst such esteemed company.
He said: “It’s very special to me. If I look at the people who have been inducted so far, it’s a real who’s who of motor racing – heroes I’ve who‘ve looked up to through the years and to now be part of that group is very special.”
Or team principal was pleased that the recognition had gone to someone who is a talented designer and a great person to work with.
Christian Horner said: “It’s great to see Adrian recognised through all his activities and success in motorsport, and it is thoroughly deserved. And, more than that, he’s genuinely a super-nice guy and deserving of all the accolades which are given to him. Of course he has a great team working with him, but his track record is almost unparalleled in motorsport.”
Also inducted this year was 1964 world champion John Surtees, the only man to have won world titles in motorcycling and Formula One.
To check out that track record, visit Adrian’s page in our TEAM section.
In 2011 the four inducted were Sir Jack Brabham, Sir Frank Williams, Jody Scheckter and Dario Franchitti. For more on the Motor Sport Hall Of Fame, visit the magazine’s website
