Bollywood music will only continue to increasingly influence international music. That was the key take away from the Red Bull Music Academy – New Sound of Bollywood talk show and performance. In conversation with the celebrated Bollywood composer and indie rocker Vishal Dadlani and renowned hip hop producer Just Blaze, the show recapped the heights that Indian music and talent have achieved over the years.
Held for the second time in India, this satellite event of the global Red Bull Music Academy project was presented by MTV and hosted by VJ Anusha Dandekar along with the Academy's co-founder Torsten Schmidt. The event at Mehboob Studio brought under one roof about 400 musicians as well as music enthusiasts. The talk show also included a performance by Pink Noise's Jivraj Singh. Singh had represented India at the global event in Madrid in 2011.
It was an exciting discussion on the influence of Indian music on global culture headed by Dadlani & Blaze, with the likes of Leslie Lewis and Ishq Bector in attendance. Also present at the event were Arunoday Singh, Malini Agarwal and Rajat Barmecha.
The satellite event in Mumbai is a series of events that will take place across the world before the global academy takes place in New York City later this year. The global Academy has provided a chance for upcoming musicians across the world to listen to and collaborate with some of the world's most talented musicians and producers for the last 12 years. Applications for Red Bull Music Academy close on April 2, 2012.
The Academy was set up as a world-travelling series of music workshops and festivals which aims to provide a platform for prospective talented musicians, and moves to New York in October-November for its annual global summit having travelled to 10 cities across the world.
The Red Bull Music Academy: New Sound Of Bollywood premiers on the 22nd of April at 8 p.m. on MTV in India
