The world’s premier freestyle footballin’ competition is now in its final leg here in India. The India finalist will then be flown to Italy to represent the country at the World Finals!

The National Finals of Red Bull Street Style are slated to be held in the football-crazy city of Kolkata on the 9th of June at Princep Ghat starting at 6PM. It’s like an unwritten rule – If it’s gonna be Football, it’s gotta be in Kolkata! For once, this is a rule that we didn’t intend to break.

Princep Ghat is an iconic heritage site in the City Of Joy and we couldn’t think of a better venue that could host the Grand Finale of this mad competition. 15 Finalists from 5 cities will be bringing their A-game at Princep Ghat and battle it out for the coveted spot.

The judges at the finals are the legendary footballer – Jamshed Nassiri and one of Asia’s best goalkeepers – Subrata Pal. What can one say about these absolute legends? Apparently, a lot. Jamshed Nassiri is a retired Iranian player who is now a coach. He represented Iran at the 1977 FIFA World Youth Championship. He played for several illustrious clubs in India during his playing career. Coming to Subrata Pal, he currently plays as the goalkeeper for the Indian National Football Team and with Prayag United. In January 2011, he was part of the Indian Team that played the AFC Asian Cup after a gap of 27 years! Before Prayag United, Pal has been a part of prestigious clubs such as Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, and Pune FC.

You now know why you need to be at Princep Ghat on Saturday, 9th June 2012 at 6PM. If you’re coming, make sure you #BringIt.

That will be all.
