Austrian ski jumper Thomas Morgenstern is back from his trip to Japan but, before his feet even touch the ground, he's back on the road again...
Hi guys!
The journey back home was very long. After the landing in Salzburg, I joined a live show on ServusTV for a few minutes. Afterwards, I still had to face a two-hour drive home. When I arrived in Seeboden, I fell into my bed and had a wonderful, recuperating sleep.
Today at 9am I was in the gym already for my fitness training - no time for being lazy!
Japan was absolutely worth the journey! I am very happy and grateful, that everything went so well. Both competitions have been very hard, the wind and the inrun have been very extreme, but I managed to perform well and to enjoy my jumps. Getting to stand two times on the podium is a great result for me and I even extended my lead in the overall World Cup ranking - so everything’s perfect!
I love visiting Japan. The people are very nice and always have smiling eyes. The local fan club is called “Sapporo Noise Club”, and that’s for a good reason! The never stop shouting and support every single athlete. They're just great! We even found some time for a short sightseeing trip in the city. We saw many funny things to buy, it’s a crazy place!
Tomorrow, we will move on the Zakopane with our team bus. On Thursday, we will start with training and qualifications, followed by three competitions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. As I said, no time for being lazy!
Please cross your fingers for me again!
All the best,
Thomas
