About: Having enjoyed IRC Supporter Event status for the past two years, Hungary’s Mecsek Rallye will become a fully-fledged round of the series for the first time in 2011. Based in the town of Pecs, which was the 2010 European Capital of Culture, in the south-west of the country, the rally is one of Hungary´s most famous and well established and will run for the 44th time this year. It will be interesting to see how well it fares with many supporters sceptical following the failure of both Poland and Bulgaria in the WRC. However, the Mecsek Rally which was previously alway run on tarmac will this year be half asphalt, half gravel, which could add to excitement. In addition Mecsek is actually the name of a mountain, not too far from Budapest in a particularly picturesque area. Peugeot Sport Portugal boss Carlos Barros has praised the organisation of the Mecsek Rallye, he drove through the stages himself in a safety car during last year's running and reported large numbers of spectators lining the route.
