- About this Image
- In another topsy-turvy Formula One weekend, Fernando Alonso sprung from the traps to win the Italian Ferrrai team their home grand prix at Monza, with McLaren’s Jenson Button second and Red Bull Racing’s title challengers Mark Webber (pictured, foreground) sixth and Sebastian Vettel (background) fourth after a successful gamble on tyre strategy bolstered his title chances. With McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, who led going into the Italian GP weekend, retiring on lap one after a crash, these top five challengers are now within one win of one another in points, giving fans one of the most exciting prospective closes to a season for many years.
